If you are an avid reader, then you know that you need proper lighting. If you sit in your comfy chair for hours on end reading, you need to have a floor reading lamp that is bright and clear.
Several suggestions for floor lamps would include the very popular Tiffany style floor lamps. Their colors are amazing and they are an excellent choice for decorating your home. Put one next to your sofa, get comfy and read a book or two.
An option that you may not have thought about may be a gooseneck floor lamp. The gooseneck part of the lamp, part of the long lamp base, is flexible and you can bend them to adjust to any situation. If you are a shorter person, you may have to bend the gooseneck a little more than a taller person would have bend it. These are great floor lamps for any family member to use.
Another particularly popular type of floor lamp that can be used for reading is the Arco lamp. This lamp features an arching profile that allows the base of the lamp to be positioned out of the way in a corner while the light is still able to be used just about anywhere in the room. This is perfect for anyone needing the task lighting required for reading.
When you shop for a floor lamp, make sure to find out how many light bulbs you can use and what the maximum wattage is for the lamp. If a floor lamp only holds one sixty watt bulb, it my not be adequate to read by lamp. That type of floor lamp may be better off used for mood lighting, not reading.
If you have gold tone lamps in your living room, make sure to try to match the gold color when shopping for a new reading lamp. Also, a floor lamp with a clear shade will give more light than a dark colored shade.
Have fun with lamps, add some interest and charm to your home with a pole lamp, a high intensity lamp or gooseneck floor lamp.
