The bathroom in any home is quite possibly the most important room in the home. It is used everyday by everyone in the home. Even though it may not be the first room that you show off or the pride of your interior design, it is one of the most necessary and functional rooms. Over the years designs have changed and restroom decor has mirrored that of common style trends, however its functionality has needed to remain the same.

Depending on the size and the style of your restroom the home furnishings you place within it could include a flat screen TV or a makeup vanity if you so desire.

Turning a second or third bathroom into a luxury wet room can greatly increase the monetary and functional value of any house. In fact, it has been a growing trend in home improvement projects to do just this. If we were going to point to the definitive modernization in bathroom design in recent years it would be this improvement project. What this usually entails is making the entire room waterproof with either tile or another nonporous surface. Many times if you don’t want the room completely open you may add a shower enclosure to better define the bathing area. Really, you could think of it as one large showering area that also has the rest of the bathroom facilities located in it.

Something else that is becoming more and more popular in modern bathroom design is the use of a walk-in tub. While these are usually thought of as something for the elderly that really isn’t the case. They have many health benefits for people of all ages, and are becoming more and more popular all the time.
