Royal heads have always been inspirational figures for everybody; besides celebrities, that always get the best of whatever they want to get, a few top businessmen and businesswomen and a couple of head politicians or head mafias, crowned heads enjoy the same glamour and refinement when it comes to their actions, clothes or homes.

Situated in the City of Westminster, the official London residence of Britain’s sovereigns since 1837 – today, the administrative headquarters of the Monarch – Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms, among which 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 19 State rooms, 92 offices, 118 staff bedrooms and 78 bathrooms. The building is 108 metres long across the front facade, 120 metres deep (the central quadrangle is included) and 24 metres high. Buckingham Palace is the venue for State visits and exquisite Royal ceremonies, organised by the Royal Family.

More or less than 50,000 people visit the palace anually, as guests to receptions, dinners,  banquets and the Royal Garden Parties.

These interiors of Buckingham Palace share a common feature: the red carpet. Red rugs are often found in numerous rooms of palaces and chateaux. They give off a refined and stylish look and empower the ambient of the room, conferring an impetuous atmosphere in general. Red carpets don’t need to be totally red; that would work for bathroom, though; or for a simpler, minimalist design, like the one in the following picture:

That’s closer of what most of us own, right? But going back to Buckingham Palace…

The ball room and the Green Drawing room

The floors are covered with stylish red rugs, which add to the extraordinary looks of the rooms. Anyhow, you don’t have to be prince William of Wales to enjoy the looks of red carpets and their empowering effects on the interior of a room, and you don’t even need to own a palace. Your crib will always be ready to “receive” a red carpet, because they simply adjust to so many styles. Red carpets don’t have to be simple; they can have oriental patters, floral, or they can be red zebras! Just take a look at this lovely red-striped zebra!

Red carpets work best with white walls or chocolate painted walls and white or dark furniture, even black furniture – even if black furniture is harder to be maintained, the black and red combination is worthy of a little more care for your home’s furniture . With red, you have only two options: you can make the elements of your room blend together and create a harmonic design for your interior, choosing a “mild” red, in classical nuances; the second option is to give a wild aspect to your room, by choosing naughty hues of red, lively and strong. But in this case, pay attention to the other elements in the room; try to create contrast rather than harmony, because you don’t want so much red to overpower the atmosphere. And it wouldn’t look so nice either. Get your own red rug and start enjoying the royal views!
