1985 is the year when the first handmade Tiffany lamp was created by an anonymous skilled man, and not by Louis Comfort Tiffany, who was thought, for over a century, to be the designer of these artfully realized lamps. Tiffany’s first important project was his design for the interior of a firm in New York, for which he created stained-glass windows.

Tiffany’s lamps can be classified in seven distinct categories : Flowered Globe lamps, Flowered Cone, Transition to Flowers (which are the most popular of his works nowadays), Geometric, Favrile and Irregular Upper and Lower Border, which represent his older working style.

They are prepared by using the Copper Foil method and they work great for season-themed room designs and even feng shui arrangements. Tiffany lamps come in many forms – wall lamps, pendant lamps, floor lamps, table lamps, so you they give you the advantage to follow the same style if you want to place different types of lights in the same room, wall lights and hanging lights as well, or table lamps and floor lamps together. There is no risk of disturbing the ambient of the room you want to decorate.

Besides the above mentioned properties and the extraordinary beauty of Tiffany lamps, they’re also known for their long life and reasonable price, even if the creation of a Tiffany lamp requires a lot of labor. Hand painted Tiffany lamps are jewlery to their owners. And it doesn’t matter if you are more of a trendy and modern personality or you’re a nostalgic for the past times, if you’re simple and playful or always elegant and stylish, classical or sophisticated, Tiffany style has it all.

Chandeliers belonging to the style are great to place above the dinning table, offering you a nice environment to dine in with your family members or friends.

Now it’s possible that the following questions come to your mind : Aren’t Tiffany lamps hard to maintain? Aren’t they hard to restore? Keep your mind quiet because there’s nothing to worry about, as there are many firms that offer their services for that purpose. That’s not a strong reason to make you refuse the pleasure of owning the finest Tiffany studio pieces or the so famous Tiffany studio desk pieces that everyone would want to have in their homes. You can accentuate the style by adding Tiffany vases and glass to your rooms.

If you are fond of a certain colored light, you can increase the effect by choosing a Tiffany lamp with the glass painted in different nuances of the color you like. That could be a ”very green”, ”truly magenta”, ”deep purple” light, creating dramatic effects on your design.

If you are a craftsman, you could do it yourself; it isn’t that hard, inspite of the complicated and sophisticated models that you usually see on Tiffany glass. Good luck!
