Your laundry room can be a pleasure to work in, or a place that you hate entering! However, many laundry room complaints can be easily resolved with a few simple changes to the set up of your laundry room.

The main function and feature of this room is that it should be a place to easily do your laundry. This means a quality washer and dryer set up properly for ease of use and accessible. If you have a large laundry room, this might not be an issue, but in small or narrow laundry rooms, the accessibility of the washer and dryer can be a real problem. One solution might be integrated washing machines and dryers. This means that they would be build in, either under the counter-top or stacked into a closet or some other enclosed space in your laundry center. This is a wonderful way to both hide the washer and dryer and free up counter or floor space. A laundry pair integrated side by side is often the best way to use the space in a laundry room that is long and narrow.

Other considerations is how to best use the space with your dirty clothes. Some people build special hutches to contain dirty clothes between loads which others simply use an laundry hamper. Which ever way you chose to store your dirty clothes between washings, make sure that the clothes are all kept in one place and not spread out all over the room. Clothes everywhere can make a simple job look overwhelming and add to the stress of your laundry day.

One final hint to make your laundry room more useful is storage space. This room is not likely a high traffic area, so you can safely build in all kinds of storage cabinets and cupboards without impeding the flow of people through the room. Making sure that everything has a place and that everything is regularly put away can help both with getting the laundry done faster and doing so with less stress and anxiety.

Fix up your laundry room so that you use the space in the most effective manner and you will find that you can enjoy your time spent there.
