Installing new bathroom fixtures

Getting a waterfall shower head can be a great way to turn your bathroom into a home spa. A waterfall shower head can mimic a tropical rainfall.

Bathroom updates increase the resale value of your home, and new shower fixtures are great low-cost accessories. You can purchase new shower heads from Lowes or Home Depot. If you know exactly what model you want, you may also be of purchase the unit directly online.  Popular brands include Kohler and Hans Grohe.

Find the showerhead online can be cheaper than using your local Home Depot store. There are many different brands which you can purchase, however you should stick to the major brands such as Kohler. Depending on your own skills, you may be able to install your own shower head without using a plumber.

If you wish to attempt to do this on your own, you will need some basic skills involving soldering, pipe cutting, and installing new fittings. Depending on your current pattern, you may also need to do some drywall refinishing.  When you are measuring for the installation location, be sure you accommodate for the tallest person in your household.

It is also a good idea to check the water capacity of your water heater. You want to make sure that your water heater capacity is large enough to provide water for extended showers.  If your pipe diameter is smaller than 1/2 inch you may also want to install a water pressure booster.

There are various different finishes which you can buy your rainfall shower head. Depending on your bathroom, you may want to choose either chrome, satin nickel, or bronze.  Be sure to examine the finish on the waterfall shower head.  Low cost imported shower heads usually are not made with long term durability in mind.  Make sure you examine the entire portfolio from the manufacturer, in case you want to install other matching bathroom faucet fixtures.  Another possible addition is to install a teak shower bench.  A built in bench can make life easier for purposes such as shaving.

The new shower head will feel like you’re standing in the middle of a forest rainfall. If you wish to enhance the overall mood, you can also use bath balls. These release aromatherapy scents when water hits the surface. There are various different fragrances you can choose from including stress relieving lavender and chamomile oils. Adding candlelight to your shower can also heighten your sensitivity and enhance your mood.

Be sure when you clean your shower head to use a gentle solution. You do not want to scratch the finish. If you notice that the water is hard in your area you may also want to install a water softener device. This will reduce the amount of hard water stains on your shower walls.
