Okay, so giraffes aren’t the wildest of wild animals. They’re quite placid, actually, with their long necks, love of tall trees, and those two weird knobby horns, but their overall beauty is undeniable. If you’re going for an African look in your bedroom, you’re naturally going to have a lot of browns and earth tones. Other African animal prints are going to clash with those earthy colors, so the logical choice to complete the picture is going to be giraffe print bedding.
This pattern of bedding is not to be confused with little giraffe bedding. While great if you’re designing a nursery, their collection, quite ironically, doesn’t have a bit of giraffe print within it. We want to talk about the real deal here. African safari style, so Little Giraffe is out.
Now, when finishing off your bedroom decor with giraffe bedding, you should keep in mind just how far you want to go with it. Do you think a simple set of sheets will suffice? Maybe just a reversible comforter; that way you’ve got one side for when you’re feeling wild, and another side for a more basic (read: boring) look. If you want to go full on Serengeti, you can buy a bed-in-a-bag. These sets will have everything you need to outfit your bed in giraffe style; both top and fitted sheet, pillow cases, pillow shams, bed skirt, and reversible (read: half-boring) comforter. Depending on what set you buy, you might even get some of those cute square throw pillows.
This is where it gets really tricky though, you’ve got your African motif going on, you’ve got your giraffe bedding in place, now where do you go from here? This is where a little restraint comes into play. As much fun as it would be to throw up some giraffe curtains, and maybe a giraffe throw rug, you really shouldn’t overdo it with a pattern. This is not to say you should mix it up by bringing zebra or cheetah print into the picture; that would be an even worse design offense. Simply enjoy the splash of pattern you’ve added to your bedroom with your new giraffe bedding, and leave it at that.
