I was thinking recently that having my own carpentry tools and doing my own carpentry work around the house has saved me some big bucks! In the last year alone I’ve probably saved myself at least several thousand dollars. With many carpenters now charging between $25 and $50 per hour for their services, it doesn’t take long to accumulate some pretty hefty bills.

The money I saved this past year has paid for all the carpenters tools I bought and then some. Think about that. I got my tools for free, kept some hard earned money in my pocket, and I still have my carpenter tools in the garage to help me save more money for years to come.

Most of the jobs I’ve done around the house anyone could do. I put up a section of wood privacy fence around my yard. I bought some stained glass and installed it myself. I put down some hardwood flooring in the entry. I re-glazed some second floor windows. You don’t have to hire a carpenter to do these jobs. All it takes is someone with some common sense, initiative, and some quality tools.

Quality woodworking tools are easy to find. Shop around and save yourself some money. You don’t even have to buy new carpentry tools. A good quality tool will last a lifetime. You can find used good quality tools in local garage sales, public auctions, and pawn shops. Most of the big box convenience stores carry them as well.

Make yourself a carpentry tools list. Fill it with quality carpentry tools. They’re going to pay for themselves anyway. Start doing your own carpentry work. Don’t pay Joe the carpenter to do it for you. Take the money you were going to pay Joe and stick it in the bank. Pretty soon you’ll be ready to go have some fun cause now you’re saving the big bucks.
