Are you thinking about decorating your bedroom? Well, if you are then I wonder if you have given enough consideration to having the right dressing table. The dressing table (or vanity table) is one of those pieces of bedroom furniture that often gets overlooked because priority is almost always given to the most dominant and practical items in the bedroom, namely the bed, the wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Its only after these items have taken up the space can you usually think about where to fit the dressing table.

Fortunately the dressing table is a versatile piece of furniture. There are many different types, sizes and colours ranging from the self assembly flat packs made from chipboard and Formica, painted white with fake brass handles on the drawers, right up to the somewhat grander solid Oak or Pine Dressing Table which will grace any room so long as there is space for it.

But to be frank you don’t really need to go for either of these options. Mid-range dressing table sets can be bought without putting too much strain on your wallet and quite often they can be placed in a convenient alcove in the wall or in front of the window. The biggest consideration when choosing this type of dressing table is whether to go double or single pedestal (i.e. does it have drawers either side or just on the left or the right?), or whether to have a mirror. After that you are probably only restricted by the overall decor of the bedroom. Once installed you have the ideal place to sit and apply your makeup and do your hair and you suddenly wonder how you ever managed without one.

So, whether you choose an Antique Pine Dressing Table or a flat pack from Ikea, you are sure to find an affordable dressing table to match your bedroom and which will fit into the available space.
