Hot tub chemicals can seem complicated and overwhelming without a degree in chemistry, but in reality, they are simple to use and need not be an overwhelming concern for the hot tub owner. Besides, for those who do not like the idea of adding chemicals to their hot tub water, there are more natural options available.

A chemical free hot tub is a goal for some spa owners, and Ozonators, Ionizers and magnets can help them to realize this goal. Ozone is something that is found to occur in nature and works to purify the very air that people breathe. Since the late 1800s, scientists learned how to generate ozone for successful use in water purification. Ozone can now be used to keep a hot tub or spa clear and sanitized. The use of an ozonator means that a person can have a sparkling hot tub with very minimal chemical use. Ionizers are another means of cleaning and purifying a hot tub. This system can use two electrodes of silver/copper alloy that will generate ions of silver and copper when an electric current goes through them. These ions are able to break down and destroy the bacteria and algae without having to use chemicals.

Mineral purification of water versus chemical is very easy, it is effective and is safer as well as considerably more forgiving to hot tub systems than are typical chemical treatments. Ionizing will provide softer, gentler water as well as a more comfortable environment for the person using the hot tub or spa. It is also less expensive over time than are chemical treatments and as a bonus, it increases the hot tub’s life expectancy and that of everything around it as well, from pumps and filters, heaters and seals to bathing suits.

Chemicals for hot tubs do not have to be complicated nor must they be the main source of sanitization in a hot tub. There are chemical free and low chemical means of providing the hot tub chemicals duty to keep a hot tub clean.
